Terms
GatherWise lists community events and takes free RSVPs for them. These are the rules for using it — short, because the site does little and promises less.

What GatherWise is
GatherWise is a place to publish community events and to reserve a free place at them. It is not the organizer of any event listed on it. Every event is run by the person or group who published it, and they are the ones responsible for it happening, for what happens there, and for anything they tell you about it.
Using the site means accepting what is on this page and in the privacy policy.
Your account
You need an email address you actually control, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not share your password. Tell us at hello@gatherwise.ca if you think somebody else is using it.
Accounts are for adults, and one person should have one account.
Booking a place
Every event on GatherWise is free. Booking reserves you a place while there is capacity, and it is a commitment to the organizer rather than a contract with us — no money changes hands and no payment details are ever taken.
Please cancel if you cannot go. A place you hold is a place somebody else cannot have, and cancelling gives it straight back. An organizer may cancel or change their event, and if that happens to an event you booked, we email you.
If you publish an event
Publishing an event means you are saying that:
- the event is real, and the date, place and capacity on the page are accurate;
- you have the right to use every image and every word you upload, including any photograph of a person;
- you will honour the bookings you accept, or tell the people holding them if you cannot;
- you will use attendees’ email addresses for that event and nothing else — not for a mailing list, and not passed to anyone.
You keep ownership of what you write and upload. You give GatherWise permission to store it and show it on the site, for as long as the event is published, so that the site can do the one thing you published it for.
What you must not do
Do not use GatherWise to:
- publish anything unlawful, hateful, or intended to harass or endanger somebody;
- list an event that is not real, or impersonate somebody else or their organization;
- send spam, or harvest other people’s email addresses;
- attack the site — automated scraping or flooding, attempts to reach data that is not yours, or attempts to get around the limits on the service.
Removing things, and closing accounts
We can take down an event or close an account that breaks the rules above, and we will normally say why. You can close your own account at any time by writing to hello@gatherwise.ca — the privacy policy explains what happens to your data when you do.
What this site does not promise
GatherWise is provided as it is, free of charge. We do not promise it will always be available, that it will never lose data, or that anything an organizer has written on it is true. We do not check events before they are published.
Because we are not the organizer, we are not responsible for what happens at an event, for an event that is cancelled or changed, or for a disagreement between you and an organizer. Take those up with them.
Changes
These terms change as the site does — most obviously if it ever takes payments, which it does not today. The date at the top is when this page last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.
